Looking for a Track and Field Club? MVP is the Answer

Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this MVP Track and Field Club. It’s a place, ya know, for them young’uns who like to run and jump and throw things. Fast, too. Real fast.

What’s it all about?

This club, it’s like a school for runnin’ and jumpin’, but not the kind with books. It’s for kids, teenagers, I guess, from 12 to 18 or somethin’. They go there to get good at runnin’, jumpin’ real far, and throwin’ stuff, you know, like that shot put thingy, heavy as a rock.

  • Runnin’ fast
  • Jumpin’ far
  • Throwin’ things

They got these coaches, fellas named Stephen Francis and Paul Francis, and some others. They started this thing way back in 1999, over in Jamaica. Heard it was at some boys’ school first. Now, these coaches, they train these young’uns to be the best, like world-class they say. Win medals and all that.

What do they do there?

They run, a lot. They jump, too. High jump, long jump, all kinds of jumpin’. And they throw that heavy ball, the shot put, and other things, I reckon. They practice hard, real hard. They want to beat everyone else, set records, get medals. Gold medals, silver medals, even them bronze ones. They say they already won a whole bunch of ’em, more than 76, I heard. That’s a lot of shiny metal, ain’t it?

Who can join?

Seems like any young person who wants to run faster and jump farther can try and join. They got camps and clinics all year round for the young’uns, ages 12 to 18, they say. If your kid’s got talent, they might take ’em in. They want the best, the ones who can really go. They’re always lookin’ for the next big star.

Where is it?

Well, it started in Jamaica, that’s for sure. Kingston, Jamaica, to be exact. But seems like they got somethin’ goin’ on in Lorton, Virginia too. Maybe they got more places, I don’t rightly know. They got a website and all that fancy stuff, but I ain’t too good with that.

Why is it called MVP?

Now, this MVP thing, it means “Most Valuable Player.” Like the best player on a team. But here, I guess it means they want all their athletes to be the best, the most valuable. They wanna be the MVPs of track and field, I reckon. That’s what they’re aimin’ for, bein’ the best there is.

Is it any good?

Well, seems like it. They got a good reputation, winnin’ all them medals and trainin’ them fast runners and big jumpers. The coaches, they know their stuff, that’s for sure. They been doin’ this a long time, since 1999, that’s a lot of years trainin’ young’uns to run and jump.

How do you get in touch?

I heard they got a phone number, somethin’ like 876-927-1680 or 876-383-2221, somethin’ like that. And an email, info@*, if you like writin’ letters on that computer thingy. They even got one of them Twitter things, @mvptrackclub, whatever that is. They want you to get in touch if you’re interested, that’s for sure.

What’s important to them?

From what I hear, personal bests are a big deal. They want their athletes to keep gettin’ better and better, always improving. Beatin’ their own records, that’s the first step to beatin’ everyone else’s.

What else happens there?

They have events, like track meets, I guess. You can find out about ‘em on some website called Eventbrite, whatever that is. And they keep track of all the results, who won what and how fast they ran or how far they jumped. They also keep tabs on upcoming meets, so you know when to go watch.

Some people are worried though…

Heard one of them coaches, Paul Francis, he’s worried that folks are gettin’ too used to Jamaica winnin’ all the time. Spoiled, he called it. Said folks expect it too much now. Maybe he’s got a point. Nothin’ lasts forever, I always say. Gotta keep workin’ hard, or someone else will come along and beat ya.

So, what’s the bottom line?

Well, the MVP Track and Field Club seems like a serious place for serious young athletes. If your kid’s got the talent and the drive, it might be a good place for ’em to go. They’ll train ’em hard, push ’em to be their best, and maybe, just maybe, they’ll end up winnin’ a gold medal or two. It ain’t easy, mind you. It takes hard work, dedication, and a whole lot of sweat. But if you got what it takes, the MVP Track and Field Club might just be the place for you.

They’re always lookin’ for the next generation of champions, they say. And who knows, maybe your kid could be one of ’em. It’s all about runnin’ faster, jumpin’ farther, and throwin’ harder. And winnin’, of course. Gotta win.

They’re open for registration now…

Heard tell they’re signin’ folks up for the 2024 season right now. If you’re interested, you better get on it. Don’t waste no time. Opportunities like this don’t come around every day.

So, that’s the gist of it. The MVP Track and Field Club. A place for young’uns to run, jump, and throw their way to the top. If that sounds like somethin’ you or your kid might be interested in, well, now you know where to start lookin’. Just remember, it ain’t gonna be easy. But if you’re willin’ to work hard, the sky’s the limit. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll be an MVP yourself someday.
