That Deion Sanders, he one tough fella, ain’t he? I seen him playin’ ball when I was younger, he sure could run fast, like a rabbit chased by a hound dog. He played for them Atlanta Braves, yessir. People buyin’ and sellin’ them like hotcakes at the county fair. They got rookie cards, whatever them is.

He didn’t play much baseball, though, not for the Braves. But, he played football, that’s what he was really good at. He was a big deal, that Deion. Everyone knew him. He was like, that Elvis Presley of football, I reckon. He played the Blue Jays. Some other team. He was best on field, that fella. They got all kinds of cards for him. You know, he played a game in Miami. Football game, that is. For the Falcons. That’s another team. He played for a lot of teams, that Deion. Always on the move. Like a tumbleweed in the wind. Never in one place for too long. This Deion Sanders braves card, it reminds me of him. Young, fast, full of life. Now he’s older, like me. Still got that fire in him, though, I bet. You can’t keep a good man down, that’s what my mama used to say. And she was right, bless her heart.

He was somethin’ special, alright. And that’s why them cards is worth so much. People want a piece of him, a piece of that history. Like a piece of the American dream. Or somethin’ like that. He’s a legend, that’s what he is. A real legend. Like Paul Bunyan, but real. And that makes this Deion Sanders braves card a real treasure.

He played baseball for nine years, can you believe it? Nine years! That’s a long time. Longer than I been married to my old man, and that’s sayin’ somethin’. He was good at baseball, too. Not just football. He could do it all. A real jack-of-all-trades. Like my neighbor, Jed. He can fix anythin’, that Jed. But Deion, he was famous. Jed ain’t famous. Unless you count that time he got his tractor stuck in the mud. That was pretty famous around here.

So, yeah, Deion Sanders, a brave man. A good man. A tough man. And a rich man, I reckon, with all them cards and such. I wouldn’t mind havin’ one of them Deion Sanders braves card myself.
