Who is Vanessa Davis? Getting to Know the Basketball Wife
Alright, let’s talk about this Vanessa Davis, the basketball wife. Don’t know much about fancy words or basketball, but I can tell you what I heard. This girl, married to Isaiah Rider, that’s what they say. Isaiah Rider, the basketball player, you know, the one from Oakland, California. Born in 1971, they tell me. Makes him… well, I ain’t good at counting, but he’s older than my grandson, that’s for sure.
Now, Vanessa, they don’t say how old she is. Maybe it’s a secret, like my age, ha! But she’s on this show, “Basketball Wives,” season eleven, they say. Lots of drama, like them soap operas my daughter watches. Vanessa, she calls Isaiah, but she don’t like his “energy,” whatever that means. Sounds like he was grumpy, maybe didn’t eat his breakfast.
This “Basketball Wives” show, it’s got all sorts of women. Ashley Snell, wife of Tony Snell, Lyndzie Marble, wife of Devyn Marble, Morgan Bledsoe, wife of Eric Bledsoe. And that Mehgan James from the Los Angeles version, she’s back too. Nique Brown, Dwayne Bacon’s girlfriend, and Mackenzie Hyatt, who’s got Dwayne Bacon’s kids, but she’s with Rashad Vaughn now, I think. Confusing, ain’t it? Like trying to figure out who owes who money at the bingo hall.

And then there’s Gloria Govan, she used to be with Matt Barnes, got two kids with him. Now she’s engaged to Derek Fisher, another basketball fella. Seems like these women, they like them basketball players. Me? I just like a man who can fix a leaky faucet and doesn’t snore too loud.
Evelyn Lozada, she’s another one on the show. She’s back for season eleven too, bringing the drama, they say. She gets along with Amy, and they raise their kids together just fine. Evelyn, she’s even open to meeting Vanessa, but then they have a “heated exchange.” Sounds like a good old-fashioned shouting match to me. Reminds me of the time old Mrs. Henderson accused me of stealing her prize-winning zucchini. Never did like zucchini anyway.
They also got this Malaysia Pargo, she was married to Jannero Pargo, lived in Illinois. Another basketball wife. See a pattern here? Seems like being married to a basketball player is a whole job in itself, what with all the TV shows and drama. I’d rather just stick to my chickens and garden, thank you very much.
And who’s Angel Love Davis? Well, they say she is connected to Vanessa Davis somehow. Maybe a sister, maybe a cousin, who knows? These families, they are complicated, just like mine. Got cousins I haven’t seen since the county fair back in ‘98. Then there is Brittany Renner, a “social media and fitness influencer”, and Jac’Eil Duckworth, a “hairstylist”, plus Vanessa Rider, who owns “Battleground Gym”. All these women together and it’s sure to bring a lot of… well, whatever it is they bring. Loud talking and fancy clothes, mostly.
Vanessa Rider, they also say she owns Battleground Gym. So, she’s not just sitting around, I guess. Good for her. A woman needs to have her own thing, not just rely on a man, even if he is a basketball player. That’s what my mama always told me.
This whole “Basketball Wives” thing, it’s a whole different world from mine. They got their fancy houses and their fancy clothes, and their fancy problems. Me? I got my bills to pay and my garden to weed. But hey, everybody’s got their own story, I guess. And Vanessa Davis, the basketball wife, she’s got hers, even if I can’t quite figure it all out.
